About this guide

Railborn Guide is an independent reference site about a single game: Railborn, by Washbear Studio. It exists because the game has no public build, no release date, and almost no reliable writing about it — and because that gap tends to get filled with invention.

What this site is

A documentation base. It takes what Washbear Studio has actually published — monthly development posts, its store page, its press kit — and organises it into pages you can read, quote and check. Every claim carries the communication it came from, word for word, with its date.

It currently covers 5 families of game systems: Train Modules, World & Locations, Biomes, Plants & Motes, Survival Mechanics and Resources & Materials, plus a dated feed of the studio’s own announcements.

What this site is not

  • It is not official. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Washbear Studio. It does not use the game’s logo or its typography, and it never presents itself as a studio channel.
  • It is not a walkthrough. No build of Railborn is public. Nobody outside the studio has played it, so there is no advice to give and none is given.
  • It is not a wiki. Nothing here is community-edited. Every page has one editorial standard, and it is written down — see the method.
  • It is not complete, and says where it isn’t. Pages that have nothing solid to say are marked and kept out of search results rather than padded.

The one thing that will change everything

The day Railborn becomes playable, every entry on this site becomes provisional. Nothing written here was observed in play — it is all reported from what the studio said it was building, and the studio itself ends every post by warning that features may change. Each entry records whether it has been observed in-game. Today, none have.

That review is planned, not hoped for: the list of entries to revisit is computed from that field, not kept by hand.

Washbear Studio is a two-person studio. It publishes a development update roughly every month and has not missed one since June 2025 — which is the only reason a site like this one can exist before release. Everything factual here is theirs; the organising, dating and checking is ours.
